My approach...my work is usually about an experience that triggers an emotion, sometimes a place or a particular time. I then submerge myself with information that enriches and nurtures these ideas. I often travel. When I feel this big, big presence, which I call an "extra heartbeat," I pick up my clay and begin to build.
